  • Using A Glorified Cheese Grater on My Feet

So I bought a Ped Egg yesterday at Rite Aid after being slightly emotionally scarred by the infomercials but completely intrigued. At a minimum, I walk three miles a day, so my feet are pretty disgusting, especially my heels – I’ll spare you a graphic description, but . . . they’re gross.

I opted not to buy it online because I read horror stories of people being charged $30 for shipping, having their credit card numbers run several times and never actually getting the product, etc., etc., etc. This is why I bought it in stores.

(omg, you can also buy a Shamwow there. I thought about buying one, but I don’t spill enough stuff to merit purchasing any sort of choppable polymer cleanup thingy.)

Anyway, I got it home, read the directions and went to town on my feet. It takes a while to get the motion down – you have to go left to right instead of up and down, and for a while, it doesn’t feel like it’s doing anything, so it did take a couple of minutes.

This is also kind of disgusting, but I kept checking the scrapings to see how much it picked up. It got a lot off of my foot, but I was a little underwhelmed. I think I was expecting to see large chunks of pure foot in there and that wasn’t the case.

It’s easy to clean – warm, soapy water, let it dry, store it somewhere – and is small/inconspicuous enough that you can stick it on your shelf and not have someone say “OH MY GOD IS THAT THAT GRATER THING? I CAN USE IT ON MY FEET, YES?”

So anyway, now my heels are all pretty (not sparkling like they are on the package, but I threw out my body glitter from seventh grade a while ago) and I think it was $9.99 well spent.

    A+!

  • My friend’s dad is a doctor in Zimbabwe, and he used to use a scissor blade on his foot. :D

  • I use a heel cream from Bath and Body Works. It works great and feels so good rubbing it in.

  • I wasn’t as impressed with mine. Maybe I was using an up/down motion. If I can find it I will try again. I did however pick up one of those Smooth Away’s (hair remover pads) and they work pretty well too. My only beef with them is that the pads wear down too quickly. But they do what they say it does.

  • @StewieIsMyHero - ooh, i was thinking about getting those! shaving is a giant pain and i can’t use depilatories because my entire leg essentially explodes . . . so i’m glad to hear those work!

  • If you plan on using them on your legs I suggest picking up some replacement pads along with it, you’re going to need them.

  • Cheese is awesome.

Wait, I think we’re talking about something else.

  • Oooh cool.  I personally have so much nail/manicure/pedicure supplies (professional grade) that I never really buy much into these TV ones but this one does sound pretty cool.

Also, there are special lotion out there that will soften your feet so that the Pedi Egg will work better.  They’re found in any nail supply stores (wholesale) and they cause about $10 for a giant size (bigger than those 64 oz bottle) – that will last you for… years!

@StewieIsMyHero - I happen to see those on the Tyra Show once – the girl who tried it said it worked, but it took an hour for one leg.  She said it took so long only because it started to burn her skin after awhile so she had to stop and leave her leg alone.  I have very little hair so it won’t take me long to do that.  But after hearing what she said… I’m afraid to use it.  Glad to hear it’s working for you though!

@Dare2BDiferentt - Yes, I think you’re on a totally different topic.  No frommage here lol

  • I like my pedegg too.. although i think the nice lil lady at the manicure place does a better scrub job still.

  • Gotta love smooth heels!

  • i pick one up a few weeks back. i like it. at the other valet company i was running like 8 miles a day on concrete. now it is a lot less. don’t know, but it is still all on concrete. i got those toes stretchers. those work good also. helps relax the feet. my dad even got a pair of them to help with his feet. they too are around $10.

  • Yay for nice feet! Haha I’ve always wanted one of those things too, because whenever I walk around a lot, my feet get pretty swollen and gross…

  • I’ve seen one of them in action…a miracle for sure. I noticed after I threw up a little bit.

  • I just hit my soles with apricot scrub once a week.  Keeps ‘em soft.

  • I’m going to have to look for one of these things!

  • i have a sham wow. it’s just a sheet of felt!

and i made the cheese grater comment (not original) on pulse before i read this entry (confirmation of non original comment)

i guess pedegg is like activia for feet. good for you, many can benefit from it but it’s not a flowery topic of discussion

  • Yum. Foot Cheese.

  • I have it, and it works sooo well. I love my feet now (although I always have.. lol)

  • my feet say NO! NO! NO!

my mind is too scarred and scared to try the pedegg.

  • I used it and it was awesome.

  • I’m afraid to get one because, for all I know, it’ll cut my foot in half. Gasp! O.O

Then again, I could sue the company for damage to my foot. ^_^

  • I trust you, so I might get one.

  • jam goes great with cheese.

  • @owbert - toejam?!?!?!?!?

  • I guess it only works for women. My daughter’s boyfriend bought one and he didn’t care for it. He also cuts his off. yuck…

  • I use a buffer that you use for acrylic nails; the white block type buffer.  It works like a charm, followed by a nice foot cream!  My feet feel SOOO soft afterwards!!! :)     Thanks for this review though.  I’ve wondered how they worked!

  • these work well if you have the motion down, try a figure 8 motion.

    vaporizer

  • Thanks for this post.  I have been thinking of getting one of those things, but I was afraid it would be a waste of money.  Thanks!

  • i use it on my feet once in awhile also

  • Sounds interesting- I always thought that it looked painful in the commercial because a cheese grater is EXACTLY what I thought of when I saw it! Haha!

  • Haha. Love the title, as that’s what I also picture when I see the ad. In Australia we also have the ad for the pedegg. I think it’s gross on the ad they actually show the foot filings! I was just imagining someone making a parody where they file their foot with the pedegg then put the topping on a pizza!

I have really dry patches on my feet, some on my toes and on my ankles. I haven’t seem them in the store, but I have seen a whole lotta cheap imitations in the store. Although the ad warns not to get cheap imitations! The ones in the cheap shop say ‘As seen similiarly on TV’.

  • @Natalia - my foot is a meal in itself, and together my feet are a buffet.

  • Something else that will make your feet pretty for the flip flop season… Aquaphore and a pair of socks… yea, it feels a little squishy, but if you put it on your feet once a week and then put some socks on for a half an hour or so your feet will be all soft again… no icky cracked heel or skin…

I know, I’m late getting to this one! I was listening to the Juno soundtrack in the studio today and I thought of you and thought I’d drop by and see if I had missed anything and I had!

  • hahahhaaah.  this was a fun read

  • I find that it works better after a shower while the soles of my feet are still slightly damp.
