Punch The Monkey and Win $20!
I was just going through my super old Xanga site and found these pictures:
WHO REMEMBERS TREELOOT?
I spent more time clicking on that pixelated tree trying to find the monkey/jackpot. Alas, I never found it. The URL is now registered to a Flash based games site and all we have is fond memories of never actually winning anything . . . except a stuffed monkey with a URL embroidered on its chest.

there was one on nick.com that was like “natalie’s traveling diary” or something and it was about this girl named natalie whose family was moving across country and she wrote about the trip in her diary and it was AWESOME! i think there used to be one called goosehead that i liked too.

I remember Noggin.com… and I DO miss it, it’s true. :-/
I was going to say You Are My Friend for sure. I was hanging out with nerdy people this weekend and they had never heard of it, and I was mondo disappointed. Although then one of them remembered it and sang the song. My brother’s website on Facebook is still listed as [some unsavory insult].youaremyfriend.com. (Hilarious, right?)
@applesaucepenguin - oh man. i have the song if you want it – i think joe sent it to me in high school and i never deleted it. you can recreate it with posterboard or whatever medium you like
@EilisAngelos - i don’t know if phred on your head was before your time or not, but my sibs and i spent many a night trying to get our chatting about llamas on tv after his show

@Natalia - I’m not sure but it seems to me that maybe it was AFTER my time…? How old are you? I’m 25. Square One, 3-2-1 Contact and the like where the PBS shows of my day.
@EilisAngelos - could’ve been. i’m 23 and i watched square one and 3-2-1 contact, too
phred was a noggin exclusive, but i miss it when they’d actually show those pbs shows of yore instead of degrassi all the time. hmph

PS I’m in Jersey now and have been to the city a couple of times, but only on Saturdays so I have yet to come by the Xanga office. :-/

However, I did keep meaning to get around to letting you know that I spent most of my time in ohio just a few miles from Athens. 14 miles, to be exact. You ever been to Zaleski or Lake Hope?

Some day, at the great xanga meetup, we won’t have to miss eachother. Besides, I was all stinky and busy on a backpacking trip. I recommend bumping into me sometime when I’ve showered within the past 48 hours.

I used to love piercingmatilda.com This site where you got to pierce and tattoo matilda and you would earn “money” each week to buy more. Matilda had a body shape like a South Park kid and she was just as 2D as they are. Sometimes she would get an infection and you’d have to treat it. It was great fun!
ryc – I had completely forgotton about treeloot. I did win $500 once from play4prizes.com where you could do a different “puzzle” game each day and get entered into a drawing.

hmmm…. my brain search returns nothing. I guess I’m too internet-young, heheheh.
oh oh oh speaking of search, I have moments where I go “ctrl+F—- …okay, shit, there’s no search function in real life, hello.”
None of my favorite sites have gone, Xanga would of course be top of my list should it go or be renamed.
Sites I would not missed but doubt these would should down Facebook and Myspace.
