Who was your first crush?
Mike S. was a brown-haired boy in my fourth grade class. He was smart, Jewish (going as far to say “oy vey” at one point when he got a divison problem wrong), pop culturally referential and would draw pictures in his notebook for me (it’s absolutely safe to say I still crush on gentlemen like this now).
In one of our ongoing drawing dramas, he drew Monkey S., a primate who subsided on the food I would draw for him – anything from tin cans to bananas and shoes – and we would formulate storylines for Monkey without ever saying anything, lest we get in trouble for talking in class.
Mike and I went on a swanky date – we saw Houseguest with his mom serving as the chaperone – but things fizzled out when we were in different classes the next year and went to different middle schools.
I’ve found most of my elementary school compatriots on Facebook, but he’s still missing from my friends list so I don’t know what he’s been up to since I saw him last. I have high hopes for him, though – maybe as an artist, a writer or at least someone who can use the word “shpilkes” convincingly.
I just answered this Featured Question, you can answer it too!

i remember in houseguest when he gets the novicane all over his hands and has to perform a surgery. ohhh man.
and i want some freaking dunkaroos too!
Nice.
Was it a…JOY DIVISION PROBLEM?
…dammit.
Damn you, Ian Curtis!
@Drakonskyr - love tore us apart
ha! nice!
Wow, pop-culturally referential in the fourth grade? Woulda been a keeper! =P
Of course for me, pop-culturally referential in the fourth grade would have meant knowing all the names and respective weapons of each of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Haha!
Chris R. 5th Grade. He had brown wavy hair and tan hair and we would beat each other up. I don’t remember a whole lot else about him except for how crushed I was when he didn’t like me and how much satisfaction I felt in 7th grade when I ran into him again and got the opportunity to reject him. Haha.
ryc…Thanks for dropping by…yes, the road runner isn’t a very large bird at all…you should have seen it take off running, like a shot, those little legs were really moving!!
Mike
So do you still have the monkey? Or did you stop feeding it?
googoogaga. that was sweet, haha.
now continue to tickle us with your second, third, and fourth crushes. wonder why nobody asks who was your fourth crush? or something like that. for kicks?
I did an entire entry on that. It is fun thinking about the more innocent love affairs of elementary school
Here if you want to read about my first crush, and kiss, here is a link. I think it is cute. Speaking of cute he still is
First kiss
Mine was Shaun.E. We were in high school at the time and I was never that into guys when I was younger (no I liked them) but I was the one playing footy with them down the back.
It’s called Daffodil Day and its to raise money for charity. So these guys come around with Daffodils for like $1. We were in Maths and anything including Daffodils was a life saver to have everyone stop that drool for five minutes. Well talking to a mate and not paying attention. I look over (cos she is laughing) and Shaun is standing there with a Daffodil for me in the middle of the classroom. It was the single most sweetest thing I have ever seen. I got crap off the boys more than he did for a month. The girls were on my side though. It was very sweet.
i had too many to remember, yeah i was a floozy.
first time reading watchmen?
@owbert - yes, it was my first time reading it and it was incredible
Whee Watchmen.
I have no idea who my first crush was. Probably somebody in the second grade.
