  • Concerts!!!!1

Last night my friend Kate and I went to see Coldplay at Madison Square Garden – they kicked off a promotional tour with a free show. I wouldn’t call myself a fan of theirs – I knew of the songs but didn’t really know any of the lyrics. I did, however, “wooo-oooOOOOO!” at what was apparently the appropriate time.

we were pretty far back but you could still tell what was going on.

They also came to the back of the arena to sing an acoustic version of Yellow, which meant that we were about 200 feet away from the band. You can see Chris on the far left.

“Lost?” is my jam, you guys.

Anyway, yay for free shows. I am a fan of those.

Also, I might go see Blake Lewis tonight after I babysit because I am not typically a purveyor of the art of beatbox and I think it’s high time I start to appreciate the art. Matt and I both love his CD, though, so I’d feel like a jerk for going by myself . . . sigh.

edit: I did end up going. Tickets were way more expensive than they should’ve been, but the venue was tiny and there were 100 people there at most. I was about ten feet away from the stage. Awesome. Teach me how to beatbox, B.

some chick (Brianna?) from The Real World this season opened for him. Her voice was okay but her stage presence was horrible.

  • First!

If you’ll get two Breaking Benjamin or Evanescence tickets,  I’m going with you!

  • Sweet!

  • thats so awesome I love cold play!

  • I wanted to see their show so badly but I couldn’t get there. I’m one of the many #1 fans that they have and yet I couldn’t make it to the free show. Bummer.

  • I really can’t decide if I love or hate them.

  • Blake Lewis is really talented. I feel like he doesn’t get enough props. Coldplay will also be at the Today Show on Friday @ 7am. I’m getting up at 3 and meeting my sister and her friend in the city for coffee before we sit out in the night to get to see them.

coldplay is great. Lost! and 42 are great songs. Like Strawberry Swing also!

  • Back to basics: Now, the Queen commands that all of you mortal fools make me a sweet treat. If its a cookie then it had better not be rasin!!! To work now!!! Chop chop! (claps hands)

  • @nieves4 - yeah, he definitely doesn’t get enough credit. i listened to ADD nonstop when it came out (and How Many Words was my ringtone for a while, too :) )

  • so i heard this joke of a radio station pawning off weird al tickets in a contest. you guys are so much bigger than the radio show i was listening to

  • @clichedguy - i love weird al. i might go see him in columbus in july with the little bro.

  • Free shows are always good

  • Eh, Coldplay sucks, in that we-ripped-off-the-libertines-and-the-chili-peppers-but-don’t-tell-anyone kind of way, not that I liked the Libertines or the Chili Peppers, but on the other hand, the Black Keys are headed this way, so WOOOOOOO

  • i love coldplay, they’re my favorite band. i wish i was in NY.

  • You have to be gay to be a coldplay fan, I’m pretty sure. However, “free” overrides any of that nonsense.

  • Omg! I was going to go see them live! But I didn’t buy their tickets because they’re sold out.

Very lucky. I hope you get to see Blake Lewis!

  • I was told Coldplay puts on a really nice light show at their concerts. Go Coldplay!

  • hooray for free concerts. anytime I can catch a decent show for under $20 bucks, I’m sold.

  • Yeah…I entered the drawing to win tickets to either London or NYC shows…

Looks like I didn’t win the NYC one.

I don’t understand why some people hate Coldplay so much.

  • LOST is the best!! lucky you!

  • Sounds like fun..glad you went..love the free concerts..used to have so many in Central Park…wow..those were the days :) Great photos…have a great day..hugs, Lee

  • this is so cool.

i love coldplay and i’m a big blake lewis supporter.

    what more can i say!!!!!

wish that i’m in your shoes. desperately.

  • Xanga! have you thought about creating an application for Apple’s iPhone that would allow users to post a Xanga blog on the go while being able to post pictures right from your iPhone? I thought it would be a great idea that all members would love because it is very hard to try and add a post on Xanga without a computer. Thank you!

  • we have nothing here!  except maybe stupid “local acts” trying to be something they’re not. and all the good stuff and nice shows wind up in neighboring singapore. not that I can blame anything but malaysia’s stupid policies and whatnot

    /rant

the first photo says the show looks cool enough!
    wooo-oooOOO~~

  • I had no idea! So? Were you more excited to see us? or Cold Play?

You live in such a cool place! Thanks for letting us visit!

  • I might be able to come to New York in a couple years!

Just as son as I get my license.  Hope to meet the Xanga team!

  • I’m going to my second and third Coheed and Cambria concerts in August on the 1st and 3rd, once in Dallas and then once in Austin.  I love that band.

Coldplay sounds too repetitive to me though

@drakonskyr wow, at last we agree on something about music

  • Brianna from the Real World is soooooo HAWT
