What was the animated one where the Alaskan wolf-dog goes out and saves all the children sick with diptheria or some similar horror by pulling the medicine through the blinding storm? I remember liking that one.
Balto! That was the name.
Everyone else is naming live actions. Did you have live action in mind?
@sonnetjoy - AGH! I FORGOT BALTO! and not necessarily live-action . . . I was just thinking about how I needed to Netflix Andre while I walked to work today
@Natalia - Is Netflix really as amazing as everyone says? We haven’t gotten on that wagon yet. . . .
i totally have to agee that Andre is the best.
Ben.
@sonnetjoy - it depends on how many movies you watch per month and how diligent you are about returning them in a timely manner . . . i like it a lot but haven’t had my account active for a while.
@sonnetjoy - it’s great. if you have free time and a good mail service. The internet option works well, but the selection is sketchy.
@sonnetjoy - as in, the local branch of the usps is speedy and reliable, and your neighbors won’t be stealing your dvd’s out of the mailbox frequently.
Mighty Joe Young.
I can only really think of animated ones. Lilo and Stitch (by that qualification, does ET count then?), Jungle Book (although I was so little when I saw that, I hardly remember it)… would Aladdin count (he had that monkey…)? What about the Little Mermaid?
I liked Free Willy, but it was sad. And I haven’t seen the whole thing of that geese movie, where the girl flies the geese south in a small plane… But I liked what I saw of it.
Does Grizzly Man have any kids in it? hehe.
OH! I know! The Lion, The Witch and the Warddrobe (the BBC version with the girl with the huge overbite)
@CrazyXBeautifulXDisaster - I was going to mention Homeward Bound but that’s more like household pets and wild animals rather than children and wild animals. that movie made me cry and cry and cry. I won’t watch it to this day because it kind of scarred me (I don’t like movies where animals get hurt, even though now I’m old enough to realize they aren’t really getting hurt… haha)
@nuanniel - FLY AWAY HOME, omg. i forgot about that one. i remember that bbc version, too – i think we watched it in school one year.
we have to get together when it’s not 150 degrees out – i am dying of heatstroke here and need to cool off!
Downfall.
Because in many ways, Hitler was an animal and his idiotic followers were like children.
@nuanniel - beethoven was good too! I forgot about that one. hmm.
I knew they were never really getting hurt.
Eragon or second hand lions.
I agree with nuanniel. The “Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” was awesome!!! Does no one else agree?! OMG, it’s sooo hot!!!!!!!!!!
does lion king count? hakuna matata
Free Willie!
“Monkey Trouble” starring Thora Birch, Harvey Keitel, and the ever so awesome Christopher McDonald (Shooter McGavin from “Happy Gilmore”).
Igf you never saw this movie, you were deprived of a childhood!
where the red fern grows*…
*later on, the dog ended up as a wild animal.
:tear:
is there one where a child befriends a tiger which turns out to really be a stuffed tiger that the audience is unable to distinguish whether or not it is magic or just the kids imagination?
Was “Flipper” any good? I don’t remember.
I have to say, I did like Homeward Bound. Yes, like some pointed out, it’s more domestic pets vs. wild animals…but hey, there were kids in it too. And Michael J. Fox was the voice of one of the dogs!
I don’t remember too many, but yes, Fly Away Home was what came to mind.
does narnia count? sam’s town! nice album.
heyy Natalia. i just remembered that you are from Ohio.
I dunno where you lived, but did you ever get the 17-year or 14-year cicadas like we do in Cincinnati? basically, every 17 or 14 years, a huge cicada epidemic rises up and pretty much takes over the area. and…this year is the year. It’s terrifying.
do you remember a plague of cicadas when you lived in Ohio?
@blanket_attack - we got ‘em in the summer of 2004 in central ohio! the noise was unreal and i ended up with a bunch of cicada guts on my windshield – gross
Ice Age I guess.
ZOMG GARM HAS COME FOR US
Yeah Lion King is cool!
Garm has charm!
Milo and Otis was my favorite movie of all times forever when I was little. I wore the tape out untill there wasn’t any sound left. There were children in the movie but I don’t think it counts so I’ll go with Black Beauty.
