a taste of her own medicine and a promise to you guys
Yesterday was a day intended to delete accounts on an unnamed by-golly-it’s-popular corporate owned site, and I was pumped to delete mine because I don’t use it and dislike the idea of being a citable statistic (the Today Show had a segment explaining that one in four people, statistically, is a member of this website). When you sign up for this particular website, your URL isn’t a personalized name that you choose – it’s a number. That’s pretty telling.
Anyway, when I went to delete my account, I was told that I would receive a confirmation email allowing me to end my membership; however, the email address I used to register was from my internship in the summer of 2006 and has expired since then.
This is a common problem I come across daily – I answer all the forgotten password emails that come in to Xanga’s inboxes – but I never thought I’d have to wait for one myself.
I sent a detailed email yesterday morning, explaining that I wanted to update my email on file because my current address had relapsed, and thanks-for-your-time-look-forward-to-hearing-from-you-soon-kbye!
And while I realize it’s completely my fault for not keeping my email
update, it’s still completely frustrating to not even receive a “we’re
working on it – get back to you soon!” message.Haven’t heard back yet.
I promise, my dear forgetful Xangans, that I will not make you wait in vain. I shall answer all emails as quickly as humanly possible so you can get back to blogging ASAP.
xoxo, etc., your friendly neighborhood password provider and help desk representative

lol. first comment.
that’s sweet.. n-n
hope you won’t have to wait TOO long! xD
You are doing a great job… of course I haven’t had to wait yet! lol
I imagine it is a frustrating thing. Its a very nice and thoughtful post.
dude, good luck. i’ve went through customer service with them before. two requests in a row, all i ever got back was a “hello. thanks for your email. sincerely, ——-.com.” i was thoroughly confused, but i assumed that this meant they maybe had fixed the problem? ehh, nope. it still isn’t fixed, as far as i know, and the poor li’l guy whose account i was trying to fix? he had to create a new one. as for me? i still haven’t gotten a helpful email back from them.
well this is why xanga rules and myspace drools
facebook falls somewhere in between though
I know, beyond a show of a doubt, and historically speaking in how many times I’ve annoyed you with such superflous questions…
you respond to my questions and inquiries within 24 -48 hours.
That’s a better response rate than me contacting my brother and wondering when he’ll be in town for dinner.
Blessings…and thanks.
aw.. we
you
hahaha…
ps…that is one of my all time fave cds you have up there.
Ah passwords, the bane and bread and butter of the help desk. Well hopefully you got your account deleted on the the site in reference. I deleted mine a while ago out of sheer frustration with the amount of porn spam. Yuck.
All my passwords are the same word, just with a number after them if I need it, or mixed in. I’s clever that way.
Longest password I had was to facebook for awhile, which was my password plus two of the alphanumerical clues from “Cube”.
God, what a stupid movie. I love David Hewlett, but…sheesh.
Yeah, right, because posting about Michael Ironside wasn’t nerdy enough.
At least I didn’t go for Ted Raimi.
But then he wasn’t in Scanners.
But can you tell me why Donnie Wahlberg is in so many goddamn horror movies as a cop these days?
@edlives - yeah right! your questions are never superfluous. i try to have it faster than 24-48 (like 5 minutes or so!) but i hope to have more definitive answers to your tough questions, too
@Natalia - (by the time I read your quick responses…it’s more like I’m the slow one.
)
i heard they make it tough to terminate an account.
Well, myspace is a much bigger site with way more users, no?
The exact same thing happened to me. Luckily I used hotmail at the time, so even though my account was deleted I could make a new one and resend the confirmation email. Does seem a little excessive =
Hey, i was in the xangatv chat and asked you about Ohio University…i’m graduating in 4 months…from high school.. i need to hurry up with this college stuff. lol.
it was nice seeing you on xanga live. Hi, Natalia.
I hate Myspace, too many people I don’t want to remember from high school are on there.
I commend you for [trying] to give it up!
@Dewdropsonthegrass - there’s not as much of a user gap as you’d think. i mean, i’m not answering 300,000 emails a day, but there are still tens of millions of accounts on Xanga
I gave mine the boot on Wednesday, too!
Here’s a Mini with your face on it. Enjoy!
i messaged pulse@xanga.com after doing the setup in the link you sent me and nothing happened.
you were listening to ben folds! he is my favorite. i have gotten to see him in concert only twice, but both shows were amazing. do you have a favorite song? i can’t just have one..
i think i stumbled across the live chat by accident/luck. how often do you have it?
is it a set time? would love to stumble by again:]]

hi natalia, thanks for your repsonse!
but still not working, can you check my site again whenever you are avail? i left a note and a few examples in the same spot as before for you, thanks!
you know our passwords?!?!?
can u read our protected posts too!??! scary!!!
@slamjoe - but i only use my powers for good, not for evil.
@slamjoe -
the ONLY people who can read “protected” posts are the people you add to your friend’s list. for maximum privacy, use “private” posting instead of “protected”. only YOU ever see the “private” posts. ~sarina
nice site.
Came across you on the Groundhog blogring.
Happy Groundhog Day.
–Random props–
time for g-g-g-g-gmail!
@aimvpr - totally. i’m actually switching it to my gmail account (which i’ve had longer than my internship email – why didn’t i just use gmail instead?!)
@Natalia - you’ve got my spider senses tingling…
oh darn…i had signin lock on…i just took it off though..i didn’t even think about that
grah, ive been trying to delete my myspace for almost 3 months
so i kinda get what u mean
x

this morning you were wishing you could use your french… Anyway he’s great.
Hope the day goes well for you!
@angi1972 - awesome, thanks – i’ll check him out! and you too (thanks for dropping by! it’s always nice to have familiar faces, if you will, in the chat)
@Natalia - the front page xanga photo out of clay… I feel like that’s more for me… because in the box it says… ang… until you click on it… yes, I am easily amused.
Alright off to work I go. It was nice seeing you guys this morning too! You guys are doing a great job. eugi is a great talker. I mean that in a good way!
@angi1972 - haha – subliminal messaging! anyway, have a good day at work – eugy is a fabulous talker. i usually reserve my loudmouthitude for when john and i do our thursday night diatribes.
Just wanted to thank you and the Xangateam for a very fun live chat. I wish you guys all well. Keep up the great work and thanks for investing interest in all of us bloggers. I will try to give as much feedback as I can on things that can improve the Xanga experience. God bless you and have a great day!

p.s. Told you I love the Ninja Attack mini. Can’t wait to see the new minis in the future!
How did I not know about you? I only wandered over because you like hummus and I think the name Natalia is nice. I’m sure I’ll be plying you with questions eventually. Enjoy your evening!
